Love your pets, but not what they do to your house? Keeping up with pet hair, dirt, debris, and the random things they may bring in from the back yard can be daunting. However, there is a way to keep your house in great shape even with your fur babies running around.
Pet Hair Management
Whether it’s a dog, a cat, a bunny, or other furry creature – pet hair is likely on the top of your frustration list. It gets onto everything and it seems like it’s impossible to get rid of it all.
For this issue, an ounce of prevention is definitely worth a pound of cure. Proper grooming and brushing your pet will help you keep the pet hair piles at bay. Another option is to place a blanket, towel, or pet pad on the areas where the pet likes to sleep or rest. This helps to confine the bulk of the hair onto one item that you can easily wash without spreading the hair all over.
For the hair that gets loose, you’ll need to stay on top of a regular cleaning schedule. Vacuuming on a daily basis is a must to keep the pet hair to a minimum. Doing regular touch-ups with lint roller devices is a must as well for those hard-to-reach places.
Dirt & Debris
Many pets love to play outside, but they don’t care how much mud they may track back into the house. Before you take Fido or Fifi out for a walk, make sure that you keep a damp towel by the door. When you come back inside, make sure to wipe those paws right away.
Pet Stains & Smells
Whether you have a new puppy, or just an occasional “oops” in the house, pet urine is incredibly difficult to remove, and can be off-putting to your guests. The key to preventing this from doing permanent damage to your carpet or flooring is to address the stain right away.
Blot the fresh stain with a clean cloth. After you have absorbed as much moisture as possible, use a solution of a small amount of clear dishwashing soap and one cup of lukewarm water. Blot again with a fresh dry towel. Rinse the soap by blotting again with a rag dampened with lukewarm water. Continue this process until the stain is gone.
